American Apparel gets real in 2018

Time to get real

American Apparel used to be known for how their clothes were marketed rather than how great their clothes actually were. That is now a thing of the past as American Apparel looks towards the future with the future being REAL people. Just in time for festival season, American Apparel has taken things to the next level by including real influencers in their advertisements and highlighting them on their Instagram page. Below you'll find just a few of the influencers (and the items they love) that you should check out!

Evie

Originally from eastern Washington, Evie Vander Wende is an LA-based dancer and private pole instructor. She is an advocate for mental health awareness, medicinal cannabis, sexual expression and proper sex education for all. Her favorite items include the Stripe Thigh-High Socks, Cotton Spandex Off-Shoulder Long Sleeve Bodysuit, and the Ponte Mini Skirt.

And after 42 years of what she calls “a wild and hairy roller coaster with this sweet, funny, complicated, sometimes cranky man,” they remain happily married. Her favorite items include the Heavy Jersey Box T-shirt, 3/4 Sleeve Small Dog Raglan, and the Fine Jersey T-Shirt Midi Dress.

James

James Flemons is the founder of the Phlemuns brand. Born and raised in Los Angeles, James is known for creating androgynous fashion, and has collaborated with Solange Knowles, Tinashe, Miley Cyrus, and more. His favorite items include the socks, underwear, and the Crinkle Nylon Track Suit.
