6 movies on Netflix to get you in the festive mood

Merry Christmas everyone!

The day is finally here and what better way to celebrate than with a movie marathon? Once you've properly induced the food coma you can kick back and relax with your old pal Netflix. Put any one of these movies on in the background and you can turn even the grinchiest of people into Christmas's #1 fan. An image Gif source

1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

You can't go anywhere without seeing a meme based on Jim Carrey's version of the Grinch. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the live-action version that you can put on and laugh for hours. Just put it on when the family gets to be too much and consistently say "me" for everything the Grinch does.

2. White Christmas

I kid you not, I watch this every day in December. It's just one of those movies that soothes you. Set after WWII (and released in 1954), White Christmas follows two big time entertainers to Vermont as they fall in love with a pair of sisters whilst helping an old army buddy. Fun fact: back when Blockbuster was a thing... my family rented this movie and then never returned it foregoing all late fees since Blockbuster had gone out of business.

3. The Santa Clause

Tim Allen as Santa Clause? There's nothing better than the 1994 classic The Santa Clause. Sure, looking back on it... the story is a bit twisted (you have to "kill" Santa to be Santa?) but it's still the heartwarming tale of a father bonding with his son. Both sequels are also on Netflix so feel free to have a Santa Clause marathon. I know I will!

4. A Holiday Engagement

This list wouldn't be complete without an entry from the Hallmark Channel. A woman hires a man to be her fiancé for the holidays... what could go wrong? Granted a majority of the A Holiday Engagement takes place over Thanksgiving but a family holiday setting still gets you in the mood (and reminds you that your family isn't that bad).

5. A Christmas Prince

Netflix (savagely) called out the 53 people that watched this movie 18 times but hey, they're also the people responsible for the film. Essentially The Prince and Me set during Christmastime, A Christmas Prince follows a young journalist as she tries to get a scoop on the playboy Prince that's destined to be king. It may be a little cheesy but who doesn't love cheese during Christmas?

6. The Nightmare Before Christmas

There has been great debate over whether or not The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween or a Christmas film. My belief is that it's perfect for either time... or at least is a great alternative to the usual Christmas choices. Follow Jack Skellington as he tries to battle his boredom by completely changing the nature of Halloweentown. Essentially Jack is any of us once we get bored and decide it's time to create a "new you".
