Hands up, who’s not feeling going back to college? Yep, me neither! Getting yourself motivated to begin studying again after the Christmas break can be quite a challenge, so I thought now would be the perfect time to talk about my top study tips and tricks!
Make Timetables and PlansOne of the best ways I have found to push myself on with studying is to have clear start and end points through the use of a timetable. For my timetable I simply type ‘study timetable’ into Google and print a couple of copies out and you’re good to go. Easy, right? Being able to tick off what you’ve done is so satisfying too!
Take Regular BreaksIn college we got taught a cool tip for studying timing and breaks. Basically, however old you are determines the length of your revision. If you’re 18, you do 18 minutes of solid studying and then take 5 or so minutes off, before doing another 18 minutes. I don’t know why it works, it just does - try it!

Buy New StationeryI think one of the only good things to come out of going back to college is that it gives you a valid excuse to buy a load of new stationery. Yaaaas! How awesome is this Hand Pen Holder from Urban Outfitters? I am in love with this Fast Food Eraser Set and this Lazy Sloth Notebook is all kinds of adorable, not forgetting the 10% off you can get using your UNiDAYS® college discount! Ah, I need to stop. I’ve always find that if I have nice stationery I work so much better.
Avoid The Easy StuffWhen studying, one of the most common mistakes people make is to look over the stuff they’re good at. At the end of it you may feel amazing when you’re getting every question right, but what about the stuff you’re not as good at? If you’re struggling, make the most of your professors by asking them questions. Trust me, it will feel 10x better when you’re getting those questions right!
