Life is gourd
Or at least it is considering Halloween is just around the corner. If you've decided to (pumpkin) spice up your life with some decorations but haven't included jack-o-lanterns... WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! Even if you do the most basic pumpkin, you're still honoring the spirit of the season. If you'd like to take your carving/decorating skills to the next level.... here are 7 easy ways to do it.
1. Create a creature
If you're not the best carver, you can always put together a few pumpkins into some sort of creature (whether it be a ghost or a cute kitty). Go ahead and paint on a face.
2. Give your pumpkins a theme
Even if they look terrible, they'll look less terrible with a theme. The one below is my personal theme and you can never go wrong with a pop culture reference.
3. Light 'em up
Sure you can put a tea light in the pumpkin to light the way... or you can unleash hell upon everyone that walks past. I'm talking about flaming pumpkins. Find out how to do it safely here.
4. Get geeky
You don't necessarily have to go full on geek with this one, pick an image that speaks to your interests. It can be anything from Spider-man to Miley Cyrus. Really the sky's the limit here people!
5. Leave 'em laughing
Puns are also a good route. That or something REALLY scary like student loans (or certain politicians). You can always go the route of a stereotypical jack-o-lantern but that's BORING.
6. Gross someone out
Give people something to gawk at. Carving pumpkins is messy but if you have a "sickly" pumpkin... most of the hard work is done for you and you don't even need to worry about neatness.
7. Use pumpkin alternatives
Anyone can carve a pumpkin, that's a fact. Not everyone can carve a pumpkin well. If you want the spirit of Halloween both inside and outside your house, go for some alternatives like bell peppers, apples, or pineapples.
