Late Night Studying? Make Sure You Have These Things

I think it's inevitable that students are more productive at night. Getting hit with that sudden and fleeting feeling of motivation is a good feeling and it's time to maximise on it. Study smarter, not harder!

Here are some tips to making sure you're getting the most out of your nightly routine.

1. Stay off social media

It goes without saying, but seriously, now is not the time to give your friends a blow-by-blow of your nightly essay writing adventures. They most likely don’t care or are in the same boat and can’t afford to care. Switch your phone to flight mode, turn it off or lock it away - just get it out of sight for the time being.

2. Use Quizlet

Quizlet is ideal for putting your homework in your pocket and studying on the go OR cramming last-minute and testing your knowledge. You can take notes and create interactive flashcards and tests that are much more enjoyable than taking endless notes. The best part is since it's an app, you can easily lounge around and study without sitting at an uncomfortable desk.

3. Protect your eyes

If you’re a glasses wearer, you know the feeling of strained eyes when you're up late and staring at a screen. Most of us spend up to or more than 8 hours in front of a screen which emits a blue light that our eyes can't naturally defend against. The blue light can trick your body into thinking it's still daytime which increases the strain on your eyes and causes fatigue because your body won't know when it's time to rest. Luckily, you can get glasses that have a blue light filter which ensures your eyes are protected - check out Bailey Nelson's range and add on a filter to any lens you want.

4. Get snacky

More specifically, snacks that you can munch on without getting too full or feeling guilty! You're staying up late and you'll probably knock out once you're done with your work so no one likes feeling bloated when they go to bed. Here are some suggestions.

5. Set a timer and reward yourself

A simple reward can give you the motivation you need to push through those last few hundred words or notes. Whether it’s getting your phone back, having a snack or even going to bed - keep your eye on the prize and you’ll get it done in no time.
