Whatever Easter means to you, there’s no denying the sheer joy of a long weekend free of lectures. Whether you wanna go all-out on Good Friday, enjoy a Sunday session, or take advantage of everything in between, we got in touch with DesignMyNight for the best ways to let your hair down. From a Willy Wonka-inspired brunch party to watching Sister Act with a live choir in the background, you can bet your bottom dollar that there’s something for everyone.
Growing tired of egg hunts in your back garden and eating your bodyweight in chocolate? Don’t fret, because Café De Paris are doing students a huge favour this Easter with tickets to their stunning show, all for under a tenner. Set in their exclusive venue, the Easter Ball will feature a mix of dazzling burlesque, music, and cabaret. Complete with indoor pyrotechnics, confetti cannons and incredible drink deals, there won’t be an egg in sight - promise.
If you’ve heard of Bunga Bunga before, you’ll know all about their raucous parties. Not holding back this Easter weekend, it’s going to be a Willy Wonka-themed affair where Oompa Loompas, stilt walkers, fire performers and drag queens reign supreme. As if that wasn’t enough - you can also look forward to chocolate fountains, sweet surprises and a Willy Wonka inspired cocktail menu. You’ll be greeted with a glass of fizz on arrival, and if you’re feeling confident, you can warm up your vocals with some karaoke before the night really kicks off.
Looking for a way to kickstart your four-day weekend? Cargo are throwing a 12-hour party with a soundtrack that covers everything from old school hip-hop to tropical house. Making the most of their railway arches and outside garden, they’ll have a tiki bar brimming with cocktails, street food vendors, and a huge sound system where guest DJs will take centre stage. If you’re after exotic festival vibes (minus the hefty flight fare), you know where you need to be this Thursday.
If you reckon glitter makes everything better, pinch a ticket for Flight Club’s Brunch Social. Over the weekend they’ll be adding some sparkle to their boozy brunch with glitter artists and Ciroc cocktails, with prizes up for grabs for the best shimmery clobber. As per usual, there will be bottomless pizza and an entire bottle of prosecco with your name on it, all to enjoy while you show off your blinding dart skills in one of their Insta-worthy oches.
McGettigans is a traditional Irish boozer in Fulham Broadway, and they’re celebrating the Easter weekend with a Mad Hatter's bottomless brunch. Head down here on Good Friday for a takeover that would make Alice proud; we’re talking wilder-than- wild cocktails, candy floss, indulgent Easter treats and bottomless booze. There will also be a photobooth to help you capture the day’s madness and a DJ to keep you on your feet until 5pm.
Been dreaming about the Easter egg hunts you used to take dead seriously as a child? Relive your youth this Easter with a bit of added thrill at Time Run’s escape room/chocolate egg hunt hybrid. The Celestial Chain will involve you attempting to imprison a rogue goddess, by cracking clues and locating golden eggs. You’ll be up against the clock too, so if pulse-quickening action and eating chocolate sounds like your cup of tea, consider your weekend sorted.
Two words: Easter Choctails. Combining cocktails with chocolate, Dirty Martini have mustered up some special serves which you can enjoy for a mere £6 this Easter Sunday. They’ve created three tempting concoctions: a white chocolate martini shaken with double cream, a chocolate martini with vanilla vodka and hazelnut liqueur, and a vegan creation that’s piled with a coconut cream float and Ombar chocolate buttons.
The guys down at the Pen & Pencil are celebrating the bank holiday the only way they know how this year; with an off-the-wall disco party. Entry is free, so you needn't worry about your student bank balance hitting zero, and they’ve given their drinks menu an Easter makeover with hot cross bun cocktails. If you know your Sister Sledge from your Chic, the Pen & Pencil is the only place you need to be.
Give your nan a run for her money this Easter at Proud Cabaret’s Bottomless Bingo Brunch. This lively session is hosted by Juice FM's Guy Lloyd, and crowd involvement is heavily encouraged as there’ll be stage games and prize giveaways. Food-wise, your four-course meal will feature mini pastries with warm strawberry conserve and eggs benedict with bacon and spinach (alongside vegan options). You’ll also get to pair this delicious grub with 90 minutes of free-flowing prosecco or cocktails.
Don’t fancy stuffing your face with hollow chocolate eggs this Easter weekend? Watch the iconic Sister Act film backed by a 35-piece gospel choir instead. Taking place at Birmingham Symphony Hall, this joyous event will begin with a performance from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, before the Uplifted Voices choir take centre stage. Expect nuns belting out the likes of My God and I Will Follow, as you revel in the most uplifting cinema event, ever.
