3 tips for finding your perfect formal dress

When it comes to formal dresses it can be tough to find the absolutely perfect one, can't it? More often than not you find the 'perfect' dress and then it decides to not match the sassy shoes that you've had your heart set on! It can be tricky but today, I'm here to help you discover the dress of your dreams with a little help from BNKR.

Introducing an all new range of gowns from your favourite Australian labels, C/MEO Collective and Keepsake The Label – with the full range available exclusively now at BNKR. Trust me, these dresses are gorgeous. Let's get started on the tips to finding your perfect dress. All of the dresses available at BNKR are great or formals, graduations, balls, weddings or any event where you want to get a little fancy.

1. Know your style

One of the main things to remember when you're heading to a big event is that you'll need to be comfortable. If you're wearing a Kim-K style skin tight gown and you're not usually a bodycon type-of-gal then you could start to feel self-conscious. I know that I'm never comfortable having my chest on show so it's always a high neck and never a plunging neckline for me! Understand what you feel like 'you' in. You should be rocking your dress, it shouldn't be wearing you. The same goes for if everyone else is wearing a long dress and you don't want to. If it's not on the dress-code and you want to rock a mini - do it!

2. Understand your body

If you know what to enhance and what makes you feel great then do it! If you love your legs then a mini dress is the perfect formal style for you. Try a long-sleeved mini with a high-neck for some extra glamour. What about if you don't like your arms? Draw attention away from them with long sleeves or try a wrap to cover your shoulders. If you have wide shoulders a halter neck can be really flattering, too. Skim over your hips if you don't want to enhance them with an A-Line skirt and always cinch in your waist if you love that 50s silhouette!

3. Find your colours

Colour is a huge part of style. If you feel that black can sometimes look a little bit harsh, opt for a dark grey or a navy instead. Navy literally suits every skin tone so you can never go wrong here. Test out colours by holding them up to the side of your face. If your face seems to light up then that's a great colour for you! Bright colours suit warm toned skin and cooler colours can be fantastic on pale belles.
