5 ways to decorate your uni bedroom

Let’s be honest, student housing doesn’t exactly have the most amazing decor. It’s all very plain and basic, but this is actually a good thing. It gives you free reign to give it your own personal touch, without too much hassle. Here are some of my tips on how to spruce up your own space without making dents in the walls or your wallet.

1. Plants

One of the best ways to add a little something to your room is getting house plants. Cactus, Aloe, Ivy, and succulents are some of the easiest plants to maintain, that won’t die on you in a week. The greenery immediately makes any room look fresh and as a bonus, is really good for your health too!

2. Pictures

We all get a little homesick from time to time so having lots of pictures up of friends and family is a great way to have that element of comfort and it also looks super cute. Polaroid pictures are great too and especially look cool hung on string or pinned to a board.

3. D.I.Y

Decorating your room, the way you want, doesn’t have to be expensive. There are so many easy ‘Do it Yourself’ to make original pieces in your room. Pinterest and Instagram are great places to find inspiration, from makeup organizers to photo grids. Having something in your space that you created makes it that little bit more special and personal.

4. Bedding

The first thing someone sees when they walk into your room is your bedding. Therefore, you want to make sure that you have a nice duvet cover to tie in with your room and again, this doesn’t have to be expensive. Check out UNiDAYS' lifestyle partners to shop cute, affordable and durable bedding and you can also pick up pillows and throws to add a pop of colour and texture to your room. Supermarkets are also a great place to look for bedding that isn’t going to break the bank.

5. Fairy lights

Finally, how could we forget fairy lights? Whether they’re wrapped around your bedframe, along with shelves or your window, this simple touch makes any room ‘insta-worthy’. You can buy cheap fairy lights from practically any supermarket or home store.
