5 Secret Calorie Burners

When it comes down to burning extra calories, we all want a quick fix solution. Clean eating and regular exercise are key and everyone knows that the more you train the more you burn, but the method of training is a huge factor that is often forgotten. Here’s 5 ways to help you burn more calories:

1. Interval Training

Cardio and weight lifting through repetition allows the body to become accustom to the regularity of the exercise. It’s how AFL footballers train and its stop/start, adjusting distances and pace so your body doesn’t know what’s happening. It not only helps with fitness and endurance but it’s a great way to burn more calories compared to long distance or shorter, faster exercises.

2. Don't Skip Breakfast

We're always told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it really is! Eating breakfast curbs cravings throughout the morning and people that skip breakfast tend to eat more calories throughout the day as hunger pangs kick in. Start your day with some scrambled egg and smashed avo or try protein pancakes like our girl Allie to give your day the kick start it needs.

3. Keep Hydrated

Drinking plenty of water may help burn up to 100 extra calories per day. If you’re dehydrated, this can often impact your metabolism and slow it down which decreases the amount of calories your body burns. Try and drink at least 2 litres of water a day and mix it up a bit by getting your hands on a water infuser and add your favourite fresh fruit.

4. Strength Training

As well as interval training, strength training is a great way to burn cals as the more muscles you’re working the more calories you're burning. It's as simple as that. Strength training increases your metabolism which increases the rate in which you burn calories. Even after exercise, your muscles are still burning calories, winning!

5. Walk Everywhere

It couldn’t sound more obvious, but walking everywhere instead of jumping on the tram will help you shed the extra calories. Download the 'Pacer' app which allows you to track how far you’re walking and how many calories you burn. Walk like you're always late for lecturers to burn calories quicker and go out of your way to take stairs instead of the lift. Walk the long way around and try to beat your record each day!
