18 films turning 10 in 2018

Feel old yet?

Wow... can you believe it's been 10 YEARS since 2008? I certainly can't. I mean, as you can see, 2008 was a pretty good year for movies. Some of the most quotable films came out that year PLUS 2008 saw the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe which means that yes... Iron Man is in fact 10years old this year. Why not take a trip down memory lane (and get some much needed inspiration for your next Netflix session) with these 18 films that are turning 10 in 2018.

1. The Dark Knight

Probably the best of the Christopher Nolan Batman films. This was the movie that earned Heath Ledger his posthumous Oscar (which sadly means that it's been 10 years since his passing).

2. WALL-E

Who knew that a movie about a trash collecting robot could tug at the heart strings. The love story between WALL-E and EVE is one for the ages and it's nod to Hello Dolly caused a boost in the older film's popularity.

3. Slumdog Millionaire

How is this movie 10? It seems like just yesterday Dev Patel and Freida Pinto were dancing to Jai Ho. It's certainly worth a watch if you've been sleeping on the film.

4. Iron Man

The OG Marvel movie, the one that started it all. No one knew the legacy that RDJ as Iron Man would leave and it's just as relevant now as it was 10 years ago. If you're feeling nostalgic, put it on then watch any number of the Marvel movies that came after.

5. Kung Fu Panda

Jack Black as a kung fu fighting panda? That was adopted by a duck?! Um yes please. The follow-up sequels weren't as great as the original but let's be real... how could they be?

6. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

This movie is on the list but that doesn't mean it's a GOOD movie. It is ABSOLUTELY the worst of all the Indiana Jones films. While Harrison Ford did his best to save the film... the ending f*cked it all up.

7. Mamma Mia!

Um... so Mamma Mia is now getting a sequel. 10 years seems like A LOT of time to pass between films but hey, if the sequel is as fun as the original then those 10 years will seem like nothing.

8. Hancock

The best Will Smith is one that's playing a hero... granted Hancock can be considered an ANTI-HERO, he's still a hero nonetheless. Nowadays he's better known for dragging his son on Instagram but take a look back at Will in his prime.

9. Quantum of Solace

Daniel Craig's second venture as James Bond and while it may not be as memorable as Casino Royale it was still pretty good. Lacking that blue swimsuit scene though...

10. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

If you remember anything from this film, it's the puppet Dracula musical. If you're not weird like me, you probably remember most of the one-liners and Russel Brand's ridiculous persona (which he then recreated for Get Him to the Greek).

11. Pineapple Express

James Franco and Seth Rogen doing what they do best; being stoners. Granted this may be a movie to skip due to 2018 James Franco. Either way, it's now basically the same age as a 4th grader.

12. The Incredible Hulk

When it comes to Hulk's, Mark Ruffalo>Edward Norton>Eric Bana. I don't make the rules (I totally make the rules) that's just how it is. Granted, I actually LIKED this film. However, it's almost better to forget it existed.

13. Step Brothers

SO MANY QUOTES. SO. MANY. If you HAVEN'T watched Step Brothers in a while (or ever), you need to stop what you're doing and watch it right now. I'm being as serious as the Catalina f*cking wine mixer.

14. Twilight

Ah yes, what 2008 list would be complete without Twilight? Was it a mess? Yes. Did I see it in theaters twice? Also yes. Kristen Stewart's acting is downright painful but you should 100% check out interviews with her and Robert Pattinson from that time as it is HILARIOUS just how much they hate it... and were then forced to do three more.

15. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Much like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, this was a sequel we DID NOT NEED. Granted, seeing Brendan Fraser again in this role was a delight... it wasn't enough to make this movie rewatchable.

16. 27 Dresses

2008 was probably the last time Katherine Heigl was a draw to theaters. In recent years, her films have been absolutely TERRIBLE. That being said, 27 dresses is a good rom-com and one I have found myself watching over and over again.

17. Bedtime Stories

Adam Sandler is hit or miss when it comes to being funny. However, we can all agree that kids seem to love him. After a string of flops, it was nice to see him in a non-gross role.

18. Yes Man

Jim Carrey is another that's been hit or miss when it comes to being funny. For some, Yes Man isn't one of his best roles. For me, I have a distinct memory of seeing this film in theaters 4 times (mainly due to the Harry Potter references sprinkled throughout it). If you need a refresher on why you should give this film another watch, google "Yes Man red bull scene".
