Cook up a storm with The Hut

Venturing off to university means entering the realms of cooking for yourself. Regardless of whether you love to cook already or you're a complete novice, 15% off The Hut is going to make your kitchen shopping a whole lot easier. I've picked a few items that I consider to be must-haves for your uni kitchen! Cooking for just yourself is one thing that you'll really have to get used to at university, making batches of casseroles, pasta and chilli is a great way to make sure you always have a meal in the freezer! Snack boxes and lunch boxes are essential for this, grab a four pack such as these Happy Jackson Snack Boxes to store different sized foody bits in and a bigger tub such as the Happy Jackson Yay Lunch! Box is great for sandwiches or salads to take to uni. Tea drinker? No? Don't talk to me. Yes? You need this My Cuppa Tea Mug! Just let your housemates know which shade of tea is yours and never have to put up with a bad tea ever again. Coffee or tea is a morning necessity for me and if I don't have time to have one before I leave the house a travel mug is the perfect answer. Another Happy Jackson find from The Hut I'm loving is this Happiness Lies Within Travel Mug. Article-size_thehut_1 When it comes to kitchen appliances, the Breville Blend Active is an amazing alternative to the super-hyped Nutri-Bullet. For just over £20, this is such a great smoothie maker and you could also whizz up some soup in there too in a few batches. You get two 600ml travel bottles that are super secure and do not leak - both Katie and I can vouch for that. We love our Breville Blend Actives! For quick dinners and cheat-day snacks, a Breville Sandwich Toaster has to be an essential, right? Just pop two pieces of bread, some tuna, ham or chicken and a whole load of cheese and you've got a toastie from Heaven. When you fancy whipping up a bit more of a storm in the kitchen the Swan 11 Piece Student Starter Kit is under £16 and amazing value for all of the pots and pans you get. One final thing that I couldn't live without in my kitchen is the Salter Disc Electronic Scale, it's so useful when creating recipes and trying to watch the calories. These are also essential when trying to bake. One of your flatmates will, without doubt, feel the urge to bake cookies or cupcakes at some point during your time in halls and when you whip these out, you'll automatically be their best friend, sous-chef and chief cake taster.
