9 back to uni wardrobe essentials

Back to uni feels are well and truly here and it’s time to get ahead of the class and prep your style for September. We’re not talking a cute new pencil case and a fresh polo shirt this time around - it’s all about fashion picks for the new term and getting that wardrobe nice and full before heading off (or back!) to uni.

Well, you can totally get a cute new pencil case and some new pens if that’s your vibe - it’s totally mine, I won’t try and kid you! Let’s get to the style picks because I have 9 absolute essentials that you will love.

The basics

Kicking it off with the basics, the simple things, the minimalist stylish pieces that will carry every single outfit. I am all about fantastic basics that you can build your outfit up from or even wear on their own if you’re after a more chilled out vibe.

First up, a simple t-shirt is essential. I love the Topshop boxy t-shirts because they look super relaxed and go with almost any pair of jeans or trousers. I love how Chelcie is rocking this plain white tee over on Insta.

Your second basic has to be a great pair of jeans. No matter what fit you love, be it skinny, straight or mom fit - make sure they fit like a glove. ASOS have such a massive range of denim and you can save at least 10% with your UNiDAYS discount so knock yourself out and try a few different styles before you find your one true denim love. I love their Ridley high waisted jeans! Finally, a solid pair of kicks that are going to go with dresses, skirts, jeans, any-thang will become your go-to pair of trainers. Try Adidas Stan Smiths, Nike Cortez or Vans Old Skool. Yas.

The trend pieces

The chunky knit has to be the first sign of autumn, right? I’ve already picked up a few pieces of knitwear this season ready for sweater weather and I am loving this oatmeal coloured tasseled knit from Boohoo! Next up in the trend stakes is pink. This pretty hue isn’t going anywhere soon, let’s be honest and I am not mad about it. Try a pink dress like this awesome Monki number for a different take on the trend. Finally, leopard print, snake print and tiger print are seriously huge right now so make sure you have a shirt, dress, knit or jumpsuit in one of these statement prints ready for Freshers’ week. I’m so into how Laura is wearing this New Look shirt with a cute skirt and crossbody bag combo.

The accessories

Jazzy earrings have been everywhere this summer and they’re not going away any time soon. Whether they’re tassels, giant gold hoops, tortoiseshell or abstract metallic beauties - earrings make the outfit these days. Check out Brittany Bathgate on Instagram for serious minimal style with awesome attention to detail for accessories. Then, visit Accessorize for a huge range of statement and simple earrings that won’t break the bank - especially with your 10% student discount.

I joked about pencil cases earlier but what we’re all really thinking about for back to uni has to be the laptop case, am I right? Skinnydip has to be THE place to get your laptop bag from this year if you want to ooze sass and make everyone jealous. Last up on my essentials list for uni style is a funky bum bag. Want a hands free night out? Grab yourself a Fila bum bag from Urban Outfitters and you will not be sorry. No more dripping your drink onto your fluffy bag or leaving it on the dance floor to get lost - this is the upgrade from the crossbody bag - embrace it.
