Sustainable fashion is a hot topic right now and rightly so! If you want to know a bit more about what it is and why it’s important, give this gem a read.
But for now, let’s take a look at some quick wins on how to reduce our eco footprint in the world of fashion.
1. Invest in quality clothes
It’s time to choose wisely and pick quality over quantity. Try to avoid falling victim to the world of fast fashion and trends that go out as quickly as they come in. Invest in good quality pieces that will last for years to ensure you’re getting a good cost per wear. No more buying items and leaving them in your wardrobe with tags on for a year.
When it comes to having a clear out, avoid throwing everything in your wheelie bin and hoping for the best… we’ve all been there. There are so many other options these days. From selling your clothes online via Depop or Ebay, or donating them to charity. Remember that your trash is always another person's treasure when it comes to clothes.
3. Simplicity is key
Lets face it. You’re never not going to buy anything new again… there’s always a want, a need or an excuse to have something. When buying something new, keeping it simple is always best. Opt for a classic style that will never go out of trend, rather than something that’s trend driven and will go out of fashion as quickly as it came in.
4. Shop second hand
As well as giving your clothes to charity and others, remember to look for new clothes at these places too! The likes of depop are becoming more and more popular, you’ll be sure to find a few gems if you’re willing to shop around.
5. Consume less
Do you really need that new top? It’s time to be a little more conscious with our buying habits.
