7 ways to get over a bad day

Let’s be honest, it can be so easy to let life overwhelm you, especially when you’re having a bad day. Although we all know that we should take a break and forget about whatever went wrong, it’s a lot easier said than done. But, I always find that there are a few things that can instantly make me feel better after a rubbish day.

1. Bath time

For any bath bomb fanatic having a bath is always enjoyable, especially after a long day. There's just something so satisfying and calming about soaking yourself in warm water for half an hour. Baths are a great way to relax and relieve that built up stress in your muscles.

2. Netflix and chill

Ok, I have to admit that Netflix isn’t always helpful, especially when you have university deadlines approaching, but you just want to watch one more episode. But when it comes to those evenings where you just want to do nothing for the rest of your night Netflix is your best friend. Get lost in a new series and forget about everything that's been on your mind today.

3. Play your favourite tunes

Nothing cheers me up more than sticking on a cheesy, throwback Thursday playlist and dancing around my room. Guilty as charged, I might start singing along as well. Find a playlist, turn the volume up, and just dance it out. Shake off those bad vibes and get ready for a new day tomorrow.

4. Order a takeaway

Takeaways might not be the healthiest of options but when you're feeling down they are a great pick me up. Not only do you not have the added stress of cooking, but you can indulge in your favourite treats without going to the shops and back.

5. Retail therapy

There is no better therapy than retail therapy - unless your bank balance is in therapy. Even just browsing the shops and making wish lists can make any bad day a lot better. If you’re lucky, someone might even treat you to something special.

6. Write down the positives

It can be so easy to get caught up in all the little things that went wrong in your day, that you forget all the good things that happened. Keeping a gratitude journal or just writing down the things that made you happy will help to spread some positive vibes.

7. Get some sleep

I cannot emphasise enough how important getting a good night's sleep is after having a bad day. I know how hard it can be to just let everything go out of your mind and get some rest, but the more sleep you get the better you will feel the next day. The last thing you need is to have two bad days on the trot.

As a final year university student, I will 100% be doing all of these things to fight off the stress of exams and assignments. It also is a great excuse to just watch TV, eat chocolate and buy everything using my UNiDAYS discount.
