5 tips to restart your (failed) New Year's resolutions

New Year’s resolutions - you either make them, or you don’t. For 2017 it would appear that the ‘anti-resolution’ outlook is far more popular than taking the time to set yourself some goals for the year ahead, but for those of you who ARE in the minority, this one’s for you...

From getting fit to making your millions, there is no limit to how extreme your New Year’s resolutions can be; personally, mine are a little on the smaller scale, but that’s because I know I’ll never stick to anything too drastic! Implementing change can be tricky, so it’s important not to get disheartened if you’ve slipped off the bandwagon... there’s still time to hop back on it!

1. Remind yourself that change doesn’t happen overnight.

If you’re expecting to drop a habit or gain a new skill with the click of a finger, it’s not going to happen. When it comes to New Year’s resolutions it’s important to be realistic - why not create a plan to help you on your way?

2. Aim for Chinese New Year?

Although our official ‘New Year’ in the West begins on January 1st, Chinese New Year doesn’t begin until January 31st, so why not start your resolutions then instead? It gives you a little extra time to re-consider any goals that you may have since deemed unattainable, as well as giving you a second chance to start over!

3. Track Your Progress.

When it comes to resolutions it’s a good idea to create a plan of action; but why not track your progress too? By setting milestones it will enable you to determine whether or not you’re on the road to success, as well as identifying areas for change. We have up to 10% off a range of products from the Apple Store for Education to help you get organised for 2017; you can check them out here.

4. Get others involved!

Feeling out of your depth? You’re not alone! Many people prefer to work towards a common goal. If improving your fitness is one of your New Year’s resolutions, why not find a group of friends that feel the same? Join a class, go for a run, do something fun that will get you moving!

5. Reward yourself

Making changes is tough, so it’s important to recognise when you are doing well and taking a moment to give yourself a pat on the back… you’ve got this!

Have you made any New Year’s resolutions for 2017; how are they going?
