6 reasons we're pumped for Winter Love Island

If you haven’t heard already, Love Island is returning THIS SUNDAY (12th Jan) for the winter edition of the show that is everyone’s guilty pleasure. There are so many reasons we’re excited to get our dose of Love Island antics sooner than expected and here’s just a few of those reasons...

1. We all have loads of free time in Jan

Jan is the PERFECT month for Love Island. In summer, we all have lots of plans and want to be out in the sun for as much time as possible so we’re always squeezing in Love Island around our other commitments. Come January, it’s a whole other story! All the fun and festivities of Christmas are a far away memory and there’s nothing like getting in bed and settling down for your Love Island hit at 9pm sharp.

2. New presenter, fresh energy

After all the controversy with Caroline Flack, after she was arrested for assault we now have a new presenter, with Laura Whitmore taking over. Although, it’s not who fans wanted to see (twitter was crying out for Maya Jama or Gemma Collins to take over) it’s about time Love Island got some fresh energy. Lots of people had criticised Flack for being the show’s downfall before, so let’s see what Laura has to offer!

3. New villa, who dis?

Obviously they’ve had to take production to a hotter part of the world, so January’s villa is in South Africa. We can’t wait to see what the new digs look like and where all the drama will take place.

4. New catchphrases

From Ovie’s iconic ‘MESSAGE’ to a few series back with ‘my type on paper’, Love Island is known for getting us saying a whole bunch of new phrases. What will it be this time?

5. New bromances and girl squads

Long after the show ends and the relationships break down, what really lasts is the friendships. With bromances as strong as Chris and Kem to Curtis and Tommy and girls sticking up for each other like last series iconic trio Amber, Anna and Yewande, these are the true gems of the show.

6. ALL. THE. MEMES.

Memes about being loyal, Amy telling Curtis ‘she came here to tell him she loved him’, classic Chris lying in bed, Michael’s faces, the list goes on. Love Island is PRIME meme material and we cannot wait for the hours after each episode airs that we’ll inevitably spend scrolling through twitter and insta laughing at all the memes.
