5 of our favourite protein pre-workout snacks

When working out, it's important to make sure you're consuming protein (and carbs and fats!) after you've trained in the gym or been for a run. Protein helps to repair your muscles and also refuels your bodies. We won't bore you with the science but protein is super important for having a healthy and strong body. Here are 5 super tasty protein pre-workout snacks that are as sweet as pie!

1. Protein brownies

A brownie? That's healthy? Yes! Myprotein protein brownies have just over 23g of protein per serving as well as 27g of carbs. These are super balanced, tasty and chocolatey and will give you a serious energy boost before or after a workout. Plus, you can add these into your daily diet as a more balanced afternoon snack than a slice of cake!

2. Avocado chia pudding

Chia seeds are seriously clever little guys! They're packed full of protein with just under 22g of protein per 100g and they also have so much calcium, omega 6 and 9. Plus they have 10g of fiber per 25g serving. This is double the fibre content of oats! This amazing treat is so delicious, really rich, smooth and creamy.

For this incredible pudding recipe you combine avocados, honey, cocoa powder, coconut oil, vanilla extract and chia seeds in a blender. Divide the pudding into smaller bowls and then chill for 30 minutes before serving.

3. Cookie dough protein shake

Cookie dough has to be one of the best sweet treats ever, right? Sweet, cakey, that vanilla deliciousness. All good stuff. How about if you could have it as a protein shake before or right after your workout? Refuel with 21g of protein per 25g scoop of Myprotein vanilla Impact Whey. Add in 1/4 cup oats, 1 cup almond milk, 2 tsp chocolate chips, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and some ice. Blend in your food processor until smooth! So tasty.

4. Protein bars and flapjacks

Protein flapjacks are the easiest snack to grab before or after a workout. Great to keep in your desk drawer at work or your backpack at uni. Easy on the go snacks with 20g of protein per bar.

5. Protein-packed porridge

Love a morning workout? Protein porridge is a great way to balance carbs and protein around your workouts.
