The Golden Globes: Who wore what and why

Last night we saw awards season kick off with the 75th Golden Globe Awards, to honour the best in film and American television. However, being the first major Hollywood awards ceremony since the film industry was hit by sexual harassment scandals... it was far from the norm.

Hollywood stars took the opportunity to show their support for the Time’s Up movement. Hollywood stars made a stance by standing in solidarity with victims of sexual assault and harassment by wearing one colour: black.

The event saw a variety of A-listers support the campaign. Ranging from Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown to Kendall Jenner and Angelina Jolie. Many celebs were sporting lapel pins and badges in favour of Time’s Up.

It was Big Little Lies which won big taking home four awards from its six nominations. Best limited TV series or TV movie, best actress in a TV series, best TV supporting actor and best-supporting actress. The drama series, highlighting domestic violence, saw Nicole Kidman take home the award for best actress. Nicole Kidman went on to show her support for the Time’s Up movement in her acceptance speech: ‘This character I played represents the centre of our conversation right now - abuse’.

The small-town drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri also took home four awards but it was the Time’s Up movement which led the conversations.
