If you’re just starting out it’s best to keep things simple, start the new routine and build your new sustainable lifestyle from there.
1. Turn it off
Saving energy is one of the easiest things you can do to decrease your carbon footprint. Even leaving your electricals on standby can use a lot of energy, so hit the off switch and watch your bills become a lot cheaper!
2. Eat less meat
For the meat lovers out there this could be a little difficult. However, cutting down a little bit can have a huge impact on reducing your carbon footprint. Why not try meat free Mondays to get things started?
3. Don’t waste food
Not only are you wasting money but it also adds to the amount of CO2 being created in landfill. Try and meal prep to save on wastage, or put your leftovers in the freezer for another day when you cba to cook.
The chances are if you’re already thinking about living an eco-friendly lifestyle, then you’ve probably already started recycling. Now a days you can pretty much recycle everything, so before you throw it away, have a quick check to see if you can prevent it going in the bin.
5. Buy local
The closer you buy to home, the less carbon is created in their transportation. Try popping to your local fruit and veg shop and support your local economy.
6. Use eco-friendly cleaning products
A lot of cleaning products feature harmful chemicals for the environment, and sometimes for your own health too. Clean smarter by using green products that are more natural and organic.
