With the clocks leaping forward and the sun (finally) deciding to show its face, March feels a little like-emerging from a very long, very hungover nap. Luckily, there’s more than enough going on all over the UK to snap you out of your slumber. From immersive time travelling cocktail experiences, to drag bottomless brunches and epic paint parties, this month is bringing in spring in style. Luckily, we’ve asked the team at DesignMyNight to round up the sickest and sleekest student goings-on just for you.

Midnight Apothecary is the magical rooftop garden that’s hidden in the heart of the capital. Now in its eighth year, their St Patrick’s Day celebrations are set to be a cosy affair. Think Irish whiskey hot toddies, roaring fire-pits and some good ol’ fashioned sing-alongs. Better yet, there will be live music courtesy of Nathan Osgood Trio, and cocktails created using the secret garden’s very own produce, all from just £12 a ticket.
March may be a miserable and grey old beast, but luckily Cinnamon Kitchen are adding a splash of colour to things with their House of Holi celebrations. Inviting stressed-out students to get messy, ticket-holders can experience a slice of the oft’-Instagrammed Holi Festival with thirty minutes of paint pelting. And for when you’re sufficiently 50 shades of rainbow? There’ll be a pop-up bar serving an array of vibrant cocktails, perfect for refueling.
London’s first-ever immersive board game experience is coming to London this month, and there isn’t a snake or ladder in sight. Combining the worlds of theatre, escape rooms and board games, this BYOB experience invites adventurers to step into a far-flung land and take on the likes of goblin-infested caverns and beast-filled terrain. Suitable for groups between 3 and 6, your bravery will be put to the test as you battle (and drink) through three hours of gameplay.
The future of VR experiences in the Capital, Hyper Reality is the ultra-high tech gaming venue with three separate immersion zones. Take on your friends for a boxing match, zombie battle or cyber ninja duel in The Arena, or opt to experience an exhilarating ride in the rollercoaster room. Tickets even include a post-play drink in the lounge bar, which is decked out with retro consoles and nostalgic board games.
A deep dive into the exhilarating spy stories of the sixties, this murder mystery immersive experience will take you behind the scenes of Kensington Central Library for an afternoon of undercover investigation. After a man is found slumped amongst the bookshelves, it’s up to you to uncover the truth using a trail of clues and real historical evidence. The perfect afternoon activity for those looking for something a little different, tickets even come with a student discount (and if you study history? It’s basically revision).
Merging the worlds of art and science, Mars & Beyond is the latest cutting-edge exhibition from Oskar Krajewski to hit the OXO Tower Wharf on the banks of the Thames. The 360 degree art show is asking all the big questions about the future of our planet, including should we abandon ship and head off to Mars instead? Student tickets are just a tenner, and include access to the full five-floors of artwork, VR experiences and sculpture.
What would a monthly round up be without some kind of boozy brunch? Cue eden’s Bougie Drag offering. Coming to the stunning Manchester city centre restaurant every Saturday throughout March, you can expect some fierce AF drag queens, incredible DJs, epic lip-sync battles and a whole lotta’ bubbles. Kicking off at 1pm, this daytime party will go on until the early evening, with free entry into the Genesis Pop Room for those not quite ready to call it a night. Sashay away darlings...
