There is no doubt about it that awards season is in full swing, with celebrities getting dressed up for their red carpet appearances almost on a weekly basis. It is easy to see what all the fuss is about. The annual EE British Academy Film Awards was not one to disappoint, with La La Land scooping up a handful of five awards.
The BAFTAs is definitely up there with the likes of the Grammys and the NTAs, attracting a wealth of Hollywood stars: Amy Adams, Meryl Streep and Emma Stone. Not forgetting the Duchess of Cambridge, who looked beautiful in an off-the-shoulder Alexander McQueen dress, alongside Prince William.
La La Land
Starring Hollywood royalty Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, La La Land was always predicted to be a box office sensation, picking up five awards at the BAFTAs: best original music, best cinematography, best director, best film and best actress (Emma Stone). Already smashing records for the most Golden Globes, the winning streak for La La Land shows no sign of slowing down with the Oscars just around the corner.
Dev Patel
Making his screen debut as Anwar Kharral in the first two seasons of Skins, with no previous acting experience, Dev has not looked back since. Dev appeared speechless whilst collecting his BAFTA for the best supporting actor, for his role in Lion. He went on to describe the situation as an ‘out of body experience’ explaining that in previous years he would watch the BAFTAs at home with his family. There’s nothing we love more than a humble mega star, way to go Dev!
Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
The BAFTAs are always a star studded event, but this year it was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who stole the show as the most famous guests. Arriving last to an empty red carpet, they were greeted by cheers outside the Royal Albert Hall. Kate’s floor-sweeping dress provided just enough detail for the evening's event, accessorising with beautiful diamond earrings, sparkling cuff and a mini clutch bag.
