Reviews you need: 5 trends Instagram really wants you to see

But, are they really worth it?

It’s so difficult to factor out true reviews vs. people just trying to get noticed, ESPECIALLY on Instagram. Should you really treat yourself to something that you typically need to buy at least a 3 month subscription for to see if it works, or a few items of clothing, that add up really quick, to find out you really don’t like them? The honest answer is NO. You work too hard, and probably don’t get paid near what you should, to just throw money away on maybe’s anymore! Not to mention, real reviews are literally at your fingertips… research it, then buy… or don’t. To make it a little easier, here are the top 5 trends I see on Instagram that I have actually tried, and hopefully can help you decide whether or not you’d like to give ‘em a try.

1. SugarBearHair Vitamins

Unfortunately, this answer isn’t a simple yes or no. I took the SugarBearHair Vitamins for 4 months, and I did notice my hair felt healthy and some growth -- BUT, not any different than what I have seen in results from other gummy vitamins (ie: Hair, Skin, & Nails, prenatal, etc). So, are they worth it? If you’ve got the money, yes. (Plus, they’re delicious.) If you don’t want to spend $30+ on a bottle of vitamins, then no. There are plenty vitamins available at Target, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, etc, that will provide similar results these vitamins do. (But, if you really do want to try them, they now offer something called afterpay, where you can pay monthly installments… so, you have options.) Whatever vitamin you choose, just please, please remember: DRINK LOTS OF WATER. High concentrated vitamins can have adverse affects on your hair and skin if you don’t drink plenty of water -- like hair loss and bad breakouts. (No thank you!)

2. St. Tropez Tan

YES, YES, YES. If you love sunless tanners, and you haven’t tried St. Tropez Tan, you need to stop what you’re doing and go to Ulta. I have tried multiple sunless tanners, and none have given me results like St. Tropez. I use the 3-Hour Express Mousse, because who really wants to wear a self tanner for 8+ hours? “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” It doesn’t stink, it doesn’t feel sticky, the color is flawless (not orange, not too dark), reasonably priced, and it fades well - not too patchy. One recommendation though, don’t buy their tanning mitt. It’s okay temporarily, but mine never lasts, the “Loving Tan” mitt is WAY better (also available at Ulta.)

3. Fashion Nova

Ever since Cardi B released “She Bad” and said, “I could buy designer, but this Fashion Nova fit,” I’ve been seeing Fashion Nova EVERYWHERE. And, I am not mad about it. It’s super inexpensive -- but doesn’t feel cheap, they ALWAYS have promos going on from 15%-30% with free shipping (and, if you leave them a review on an item they e-mail you about, you get 20% off promos!), they have limitless styles, they fit everyone from no curves to all the curves, and they even have a Men's section. I can’t even say enough good things about Fashion Nova, just remember to measure yourself and follow their size chart, and you will not be disappointed.

4. Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

For the smell and silky soft feeling alone, YES. For what it claims to do, ehhhhhhh. In its description it claims to visibly tighten the appearance of your skin, which I have not noticed, and I use it frequently. It’s a bit expensive to just buy for the smell and feel, so I typically only get it around the holiday season or when they have an amazing sale on their website - usually on their bundles. The beauty of this product is that it is available at Sephora, so before you splurge on it, ask for a free sample… apologies ahead of time when you fall in love and actually want to give all your money at it. (Hint: Just put it on your birthday or Christmas list and impatiently wait for it.)

5. Fenty Beauty

I love that Fenty Beauty has range, and I love Bad gal RiRi, so of course when it launched I bought almost everything. I have mixed feelings about the line, but I think with any makeup that’s completely normal. The foundation is nice, but I think it’s definitely a full coverage hard matte, not soft matte. And, because of how matte it is, it makes the color look kind of dull. If you plan on doing a full face of makeup, this is great, because it makes for a nice base to create whatever look you want. If you don’t always have time to do a full face though, and who does, I recommend the skinsticks. Perfect contour colors, perfect BUILDABLE foundation colors, and highlight to shine your way to the top -- and I believe at Sephora they have a deal for buying all 3 (I’ve only seen it in stores though). Fenty Beauty is the more affordable high quality brand out there though, and I definitely recommend giving it a try. Before you spend, go to Sephora, get color matched, don’t be shy and ask for a sample first! The sample lasts for at least 5 uses, if not more, and gives you plenty of wears to determine if you really like it.
