10 July events you can’t afford to miss out on

Uni is officially done for summer, which means three months without deadlines, exams and sweaty lecture rooms. Wondering how to make the most of your new found freedom? Nightlife experts DesignMyNight have scoured the country for July’s hottest and most fun events, from all-you-can-eat wings to a quirky pool party.

1. Woods Navy Rum Boat - London

All those striped Breton tops and nowhere to wear them? Docking in King’s Cross for July, Wood’s Navy Rum Boat is bringing all sorts of pirate vibes with a summer-perfect pop-up. The rum-filled boat will be cruising London’s canals, serving cocktails such as piña colada slushies, while food is provided by renowned London Shell Co.

2. Lido Lates - London

A pool party with a quirky twist, Lido Lates is taking place at the very Instagrammable Brockwell Lido. The Grade-II-listed complex will be staying open late and filling the pool with inflatables, boats and fountains. When you’re not splashing about, there will be an aromatherapy sauna, cocktails, music, and street food.

3. WingJam - London

Calling all chicken wing fans, the ultimate wing party is taking over one of South London’s coolest rooftops. WingJam 2018 is bringing three days of meat madness to the Bussey Building. From vegan wings and guinea fowl wings, through to hot wing competitions, the festival is nothing short of delicious, with some of London’s best chefs adding their saucy offering into the mix.

4. Hip Hop Brunch - London

Block out July weekends in your calendar now as Hip Hop Brunch are turning up the volume and raising the roof with a series of special parties. Known for their epic take on brunch, the gang are celebrating summer with a series of themes including West Coast and Block Party, alongside the usual shenanigans of bottomless cocktails, karaoke sessions, soul food, and magicians.

5. Neverland: Fulham Beach Club - London

You don’t need to spend hours on the train to find a slice of beachy heaven near the capital. Neverland: Fulham Beach Club is a river-side spot in West London that’s been transformed into a slice of the seaside. Along with all the usual hallmarks of the coast, including beach huts, cabanas, daybeds and parasols, the sexy spot also hosts bottomless brunches, beach games, and DJs. The fun doesn't stop there, Jimmy Garcia is responsible for food, with a choice of steaks and burgers, while there’s also two cocktail bars to keep you hydrated.

6. London Shuffle Club - London

Following a series of successful pop-ups, London Shuffle Club is back, and this time, it’s here to stay. Once played by the likes of King Henry VII, the game is suitable for up to eight people and involves attempting to push a puck into the scoring area - it’s harder than it sounds. Their new Shoreditch home will also be offering sustenance in the form of pizza and cocktails, meaning even your fussiest of friends will find something they like.

7. Lion King Boozical Brunch - London

Everyone’s favourite childhood movie is getting a makeover thanks to The Exhibit in Balham. As well as screening classic Lion King in their private cinema, the spot will kick your afternoon off with plates such as truffle mac ‘n’ cheese and maple-cured bacon sandwiched between doorstop bread, all washed down with bottomless bubbles.

8. The Independent Birmingham Festival - Birmingham

Birmingham’s independent scene is being celebrated with a two-day festival at the gorgeous Aston Hall. Last year, the event sold out, with 2000 people working their way through cocktails, burgers and sweet treats from Brum’s best entrepreneurs, and this year is set to be even bigger. Expect traders such as Bonehead, The Meat Shack, and gin bar 40 St Paul’s, to name a few, all against a backdrop of live music and entertainment.

9. Brighton Cocktail Week - Brighton

Not one, not two, but ten whole days of cocktail madness is descending on Brighton as the town’s cocktail week kicks off this July. Plenty of bars will be getting involved, with promotions across this seaside spot, including £5 drinks in participating bars. Along with being able to check out all your favourite bars without breaking the bank, the week will include a Cocktail Court at The Old Ship Hotel, with pop-up bars from some massive names in the drinks industry, including Bacardi, Brighton Gin, and Fentimans.

10. Gin and Disco Festival - Glasgow

Welly boots and raincoats are not welcome at this festival as warehouse venue SWG3 take things to the next level with a wild party filled with glitter and gin. The popular nightlife venue will be accommodating brands from across the country, as bars serve up a huge range of different gins, along with vodka, whisky and rum. The glitter is biodegradable, there will be plenty of disco balls, and a hot line-up of DJs will keep you dancing ‘til late.
