What IS a tax free weekend?

Back to school means back to buying

And unfortunately that means you're probably going to be EXTREMELY strapped for cash. Enter the tax free weekend. At first glance, it seems pretty obvious as to what a tax free weekend is. Clearly it's a weekend devoid of any taxes, right? Yes and no. This seems like a non-answer but what it means is that certain items (to a certain point) don't have a sales tax. Below you'll find the states participating. Make sure to double check exactly what tax exemptions your state has before going on a shopping spree.
