The BEST and WORST ads of Super Bowl 2018

When it comes to the Super Bowl, I expect only the HIGHEST of quality ads to grace my screen. In fact... I'm one of those people. Yes, one of the people that watches the game not for the game itself but for the ads (between high school and college, I have spent far too many years of my life watching football to actively choose to watch another game). This year I was both pleasantly surprised and also somewhat disappointed by the offerings. You may not agree with my choices BUT here are the six best (and six worst) commercials of Super Bowl LII.

The Best

Doritos Blaze vs MTN Dew Ice

Peter Dinklage rapping Busta Rhymes AND Morgan Freeman embodying Missy Elliot? There was almost no way this COULDN'T be one of the best ads in a long time. Numerous rewatchings are necessary.

Amazon

Amazon's Alexa loses her voice and leaves Amazon scrambling to find a replacement including Gordon Ramsay, Cardi B, Rebel Wilson and Anthony Hopkins. The best part is probably Cardi B's version of country music.

Tide

Everyone's favorite Stranger Things police chief David K. Harbour stars in a mish-mash of all the best Super Bowl ad clichés. Alone they might not have worked but together it has you going "Um no.... it's a Tide ad."

Australia Tourism

Prior to airing, Dundee had been marketed as the sequel people didn't know they needed. That all changed when it became apparent it wasn't a movie at all but an ad for tourism in Australia. Talk about a twist no one saw coming. Needless to say, some people were pissed and other's were left in awe.

M&Ms

Danny Devito as the red M&M. There's really nothing more to say.

NFL

Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr as Patrick Swazye and Jennifer Grey. There have been a lot of Dirty Dancing parodies over the years but seeing NFL players have so much fun with it easily put this in the top 5.

The Worst

Ram Trucks

Oh wow.... while you can see what they were trying to do with the ad... using Martin Luther King Jr. to try and sell trucks was just very... not the right move.

Groupon

When I heard Tiffany Haddish was going to be in a Super Bowl commercial, I was PUMPED. Then I saw the ad. HOW COULD YOU MISUSE HER SO GROUPON?!

Pringles

Yet another example of misuse of a comedic genius. Reminiscent of the "Wazzup" ads of the 90s... it just was meh and Bill Hader could've done so much more.

Michelob ULTRA

Trying to be nostalgic with a nod to "I love beer" it was just a typical beer commercial. Also, what was even the point of Chris Pratt being there? Sometimes you couldn't even see him.

Jeep

Supposedly an "anti-manifesto" it was just a whole lot of boring and made me care even less about Jeep than I already did.

Diet Coke Mango

This would've been cute for a Vine or maybe even a Snapchat story but a Super Bowl commercial? COKE what were you thinking?!
