4 things you have to eat in Philly

History who?

Forget about The Liberty Bell and Independence Hall… there are more important things to think about during your trip to Philly: where to chow down!

Prepare your Insta feed for foodie pix galore with this mix of must-eats:

Let’s get this one out of the way. Cheesesteak.

No trip to the City of Brotherly Love is complete without a deliciously greasy pile o’ meet and cheese.

There are dozens of places to get a cheesesteak, but Jim’s Steaks reigns supreme. Get down with the local lingo and make sure you order “whiz wit”, which translates to “Please make it with Cheese Whiz and fried onions, thank you.”

Fried Chicken and Doughnuts. At the same time. Yup.

What do you get when you combine award-winning chefs, double-fried chicken and the best doughnuts this side of Krispy Kreme? Federal Donuts, that’s what.

A honey-glazed doughnut comes standard with all chicken, but venture beyond and order a speciality flavor like Cookies N Cream or Strawberry Lavender.

The chicken takes 36 hours to make and comes glazed (honey ginger, soy garlic or chili garlic) or topped with dry seasoning (buttermilk ranch for the win). Insider tip: At the South Philly location, ask for Shabazzi - a Middle Eastern spice blend and under-the-radar dry topping.

The sweet-and-salty combo is so finger lickin’ good that it’s spawned four separate locations, so your comfort food fix is never too far away.

Time to spice things up. Literally.

Get your chili on at Han Dynasty, a nirvana for all things Szechuan. The dan dan noodles are legendary: for $7.95, you get a heaping pile of Chinese pasta drenched in hot oil and topped with pork crumbs. Fans also swoon over the dumplings in chili oil.

The restaurant’s Heat Index ranges from 1 (dash of spicy) to 10 (tongue-numbing). If in doubt, go low, unlike the customer who requested her dish at a five and then called the cops on the chef when she thought he had cranked it up.

It’s 2 a.m. and I need a sandwich.

Don’t even think about not going to Wawa. Get a shortie (slang for six-inch hoagie) and wash it down with a chocolate peanut butter Tastykake, which is what happens when a Twinkie marries a Reese’s.

Skip the hoagies that try too hard (buh bye, turkey veggie sriracha) and stick with the classic Italian: ham, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, oil and vinegar, salt and pep (and sweet peppers if you’re me).

Why should you trust a mini mart that serves made-to-order sandwiches? Because you’re in Philly, that’s why.
