First term of uni has well and truly arrived and iff the thought of dressing up for Freshers Week fills you with dread, here are some easy and student budget friendly ideas that’ll make the whole process a lot easier.
1. Where’s Wally
Everyone knows who Where’s Wally is and a red and white striped t-shirt, pair of glasses and optional bobble hat are really all you need to dress up like him. Wally and Wilma make a great couple’s costume too.
Speaking of striped t-shirts, a black and white one is the basis of a classic robber’s costume. Throw in another bobble hat and some gloves and you’re good to go. You could always pick up a balaclava online or experiment with face paint if you want to make an extra effort.
Choose your celebrity right and dressing up like them will be easy. Britney Spears in her school uniform, a member of the Grease cast in a leather jacket and Scary Spice in something leopard print are just a few examples of the ones that would be super simple to recreate.
A checked shirt is something you probably already have in your wardrobe. Wear it with a pair of jeans and some heavy duty boots and you’ve got yourself a lumberjack costume. These three pieces would work equally as well for a Western-themed outfit too. The choice is yours!
Granted, this idea works really well for Halloween but if that’s the occasion you’re dressing up for, it’s one of the easiest costumes to create. Cut holes in an old t-shirt or dress, get creative with some fake blood and take your smoky eye to a whole new level. That’s all there is to it.
If you own anything floaty and floral, you’ve basically got the makings of a 70s outfit. Some rose tinted glasses, a faux flower crown or some boho waves are all things you could add to it if you really want to commit.
