10 mega events in April that you can't miss

Don’t let old T.S Eliot put you off, April is far from the cruellest month. The days have gotten longer, the sun is there (sometimes), and April showers mean you don’t have to wash your hair as often. More importantly, though, there are some absolute corkers of events to get out to this month, and DesignMyNight are here to give you the low-down on the cream of the spring crop.

1. Cocktails in the City - London

Cocktail fiends take note: this festival of fantastic concoctions brings together 25 of London’s most notorious cocktail spots for an evening of smashing drinks and a few special surprises. An absolute steal at just £20, you’ll catch some of the best mixologists in the business doing their thing in the suave space of One Marylebone, and you’ll even receive a complimentary cocktail on entry.

2. Little Nan’s Gets a New Home - London

Having conquered the South East of the capital, kitsch cocktail lounge Little Nan’s will be heading West to the fine streets of Fitzrovia with their latest opening. Keeping all those quirks that have made their Deptford and Catford branches a success - the boozy afternoon teas and vase-based drinking will be staying - they’re throwing in a few new features such as some very regal interiors and a 90s-themed dress-up room.

3. Silent Sounds - London

It’s hard to beat a classic silent disco, but putting it on a boat certainly offers something a little different. With two fully-stocked bars on deck, take a turn down the Thames to the channel of your choosing as the two-storey Silent Sounds boat lets you take in some of the city’s most gorgeous nighttime views.

4. Aeronaut's Circus Show - London

Ever fancied running away with the circus? Well, if you mosey on over to West London one weekend, the circus could quite well run away with you. Aeronaut’s monthly circus shows will introduce you to a world of acrobats, silks, fire acts and jaw-dropping feats of daring. Make sure you stick around after the show as the disco ball drops and the top turns into a big old disco.

5. The Rascals Cheese Night - London

You can’t claim to be a true cheese lover until you’ve tried out this dairy-based spectacular in East London. For cheese stretching, cheese bowling, cheese sing-a-longs, and of course plenty of cheese eating and wine drinking, head to Rascals where your host Mary Camemberry will guide you through some impossible cheese tasks.

6. NTV Spring Break - London

Head to this Peter Pan-meets-Spring Break party in North London and find yourself surrounded by geezer pirates, a Hip Hop Croc, a tattooed, foul-mouthed Tinkerbell and a troupe of hipster Lost Boys serving up some sweet street-food and cool cocktails. NTV brings you a fully-immersive Neverland knees-up, so party like it's 1999 - only you can, you know, legally drink alcohol this time.

It’s the cocktail class of your wildest dreams; this weird and wonderful event at Pop Up Brighton will take you into the depths of a digital forest for a lesson in avant-garde mixology, with your own personal bartender.
