10 budget-friendly New Year’s Eve events

2. UV NYE ‘Peace Out 2016’ at Bounce - London

Only a little over a year old, Bounce in Shoreditch might be one of the new kids on the block, but they will be throwing an unruly knees-up on the 31st. Enter this Shoreditch hotspot on December 31st and get ready to travel back in time to New Year’s Eve 1976. It’s gonna be a one-off evening of groove, flares, big hair and retro madness. Tickets will set you back £15 but cocktails and champagne will be served until 3am with a colourful confetti shower come 12am.

4. Mad Monk’s Masquerade at The Coronet - London

Exactly 100 years ago, on December 30th, the Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin’s life met a grim and mysterious end. In celebration of his life, the Coronet theatre will offer you the chance to celebrate the turning of the year not once, but twice as they host a New Year’s Eve Eve masked ball with an eclectic mix of exotic performers; think live swing, ska and punk bands, DJs as well as drag, burlesque and cabaret artists. The Russian eccentric had a thirst for booze, lust, sin and redemption; so, get yourself ready for an evening of wild dancing and debauchery.

5. Waxy’s Annual Hogmanay Rock Lock In - Glasgow

Waxy’s Annual Hogmanay Rock Lock In will set you back just £10; and get this, your ticket will include a complimentary drink upon arrival and a late night buffet. This aptly designed gothic-themed medieval pub will have DJs to play your favourite sing-a-long rock classics and will also host an anything goes air guitar competition. At £20 a table, Brighton’s Gin Tub is one of the most budget-friendly and stylish ways to see in the New Year. They have over fifty varieties of gin alongside some incredible, bespoke cocktails. Want to order one? Each table is equipped with its own retro, dial-up phone that will directly connect you to expert mixologists. And that’s not even the best part. If you see someone you like the look of, all you have to do is look down the menu/phone directory to give their table a buzz. If you hit it off, you can always take your new acquaintance to the Rum Cage, where DJs will spin tracks from the 80s onwards until the wee hours.

7. New Year’s Eve at Island Bar & The Victoria - Birmingham

Grab a £12 early bird ticket before the 25th December (they will increase to £15 after Christmas Day) and you’ll gain entry to not one, but two top-notch New Year’s Eve parties in Birmingham. Get your mitts on a welcome drink at Island Bar’s tiki paradise and then head to The Victoria, a crackin’ speakeasy-style joint for more debauchery. Keeping with their theme, era-defining jazz and funk will boom from the speakers whilst Bostin’ Brass bring this New Orleans’ themed party to life with two electrifying performances.

8. Rock Around The Clock NYE Party - Manchester

Twist and shout to classic rock ‘n’ roll, shake your hips to disco hits and do the mashed potato to classic r’n’b, funk and soul this New Year’s Eve at All Star Lanes. Tickets to their Rock Around The Clock party are £20 a pop, but they entitle you to a free welcome drink, a complimentary glass of fizz at midnight and a minimum of two half frame games of bowling.

Fancy doing something a little different this New Year’s? Get yourself a £5 ticket to Be At One in Liverpool for an exclusive masquerade ball. With DJs playing chart-topping hits as well as classic anthems, there’s no better place to dance your way into 2017. You’ll be treated to a glass of prosecco upon entry, and they have an incredible menu with Kinder Bueno and salted caramel ice-cream cocktails. If you’ve drawn the designated driver straw, you’ll be pleased to know that the mocktails on offer here are no slouches either.

And, for £10 more you’ll be able to tuck into a three-course menu before the night has properly kicked off.
