The best places to take a bumble date

So, you’ve landed a date on Bumble, but now you’re faced with a painstaking conundrum: where to go. Keeping your student budget in mind, choosing the right atmosphere and making a wicked first impression is tricky business, so we’ve asked DesignMyNight for the best places to go across the UK. From a boozer with live circus shows to an American haunt with a seven-day-a-week happy hour; the only thing you’ll have to worry about now, is choosing your outfit.

Aeronaut - London

As far as dates go, going to the pub is always a good idea; but a pub with circus shows, a VR experience, and a quirky beer garden? Aeronaut is a one-of-a-kind haunt where you can grab a pint of craft beer from their onsite brewery, hideaway in a colourful booth with some comfort food, and catch a daring circus show come the weekend. Either way, hula hooping aerial acrobats are bound to be a conversation starter…

Venn Street Records - London

Thought your student budget was gonna stop you Bumble-ing? Think again. Even if your date is a bit of a trainwreck, we all know one pro of putting yourself out there are the deals made for two; you can’t really go wrong with two pizzas and two drinks for £19, can you? You’ll find this pocket-friendly offer at Venn Street Records, a rock and roll style plot in Clapham with vinyl-clad walls, music posters and plenty of neon.

Bounce - London

Reckon some friendly competition will get your first date off to a flying start? Take your Bumble match to Bounce. Grab your bats as you take on some table tennis, or try out their interactive Wonderball game. After you’ve wowed them with your effortless skills, head to the bar where you can take advantage of their extensive cocktail and gin list.

Peckham Springs - London

If you’re looking for a no-frills spot to meet your Bumble suitor (that’s still effortlessly cool), go to Peckham Springs. Set across three railway arches, it’s part gallery, part event space, with a dreamy outdoor area. Street food will be on offer from Gabagools, but if you want to stick to booze, their cocktail situation is ideal for first dates. Tipples start at a nifty £6, and they have a daily happy hour between 6pm - 7pm.

68 And Boston - London

Finding somewhere in Soho for a date is overwhelming at the best of times, but we reckon you and your Bumble match should head straight for 68 and Boston. It’s a cutesy wine and cocktail bar with schmoozy vibes and sleek interiors, perfect for that all-important first meeting. Did we mention the bottles of vino are priced at a very student-friendly £20?

Simmons - London

There are plenty of reasons to take your Bumble date to Simmons Fitzrovia, but let us start with the fact that it has the best happy hour in London. For five hours straight, you’ll be able to get 2-4-1 cocktails, bottled beers for £2.50 and bottles of wine for a mere tenner. Inside, you’ll find kitsch quirks like skeleton disco balls, neon signage and crazy wallpaper, as well as Gameboy-themed caves to get to know each other in, and if you make your way outside, you can perch on one of their sun-facing wooden benches.

Patterns - Brighton

With sea views, live music, and seriously chic décor, it doesn’t take a genius to work out why Patterns is one of Brighton’s most popular date night spots. The space is vibrantly decorated; think band posters, colourful seats and lots of neon lights. They have a terrace too (if the weather plays ball), and on the drinks menu you’ll find cocktails and craft beer starting at a wallet-friendly £3.

Dog Bowl - Manchester

We don’t care what anyone says, bowling is a fail-safe date night activity, especially when it’s at Dog Bowl in Manchester. Fitted with five ten-pin bowling lanes, you can impress your date with your skilful throws before you sip cocktails that start at the bargain price of £7. After you’ve grown tired of bowling strikes, you can retire to one of their sleek booths to bond over more cocktails, or if you’ve got hunger pangs, why not share some cheese-drenched nachos?

Brel - Glasgow

Brel in Glasgow is a bar of many talents. A beautiful, leafy beer garden? Check. Fairy-lit canopies? Check. Cosy benches? You betcha. Drinks-wise, you’ll find a long list of craft beer, gin and cocktails, alongside a French-inspired food menu. If you discover a mutual love of cheese (or chocolate), share one of their fondues.

Buffalo and Rye - Birmingham

Buffalo and Rye is an American diner in Birmingham where cocktails and Southern-style comfort food are king. Full of colourful low hanging lamps and cosy seating, you’ll be getting to know each other in a cool-as-hell atmosphere. They’ll also be helping you along with a seven-day happy hour; sip the likes of old fashioneds and bourbon cherry colas for a nifty £4.50.
