Eminem vs. Machine Gun Kelly: the beef so far

Rap feud is totally normal, Biggie vs. Tupac, Drake vs. Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj vs. Lil’ Kim and so many more. The latest beef is between Eminem vs. Machine Gun Kelly (MGK). I know who I support, but let me give you the low-down on the complete timeline of the beef between Em and MGK.

2012

It may or may not have started in early 2012 when MGK tweeted about a picture that surfaced of Em’s daughter, Hailie, who was 16 years old at the time, calling the rapper's daughter “hot as fuck.”

However, this tweet apparently only caught up with Em over a year later, so, this tweet may not be the reason why the following happened…

2015

Then fast forward 3 years, 2015, when MGK accused Em of having him blackballed and banned from Shade 45. Shade 45 is Em’s music channel on an American radio station that airs uncensored Eminem/Shady Record music. This assumption is presumably due to MGK’s tweet about Hailie, although, MGK didn’t mention Em specifically.

2018

Fast forward all the way to this year, where MGK featured on a Tech N9ne song, ‘No Reason.’ MGK’s verse included the bar, “Popped in on the top charts out the cop car/To remind y’all you just rap, you’re not God.” Em fans felt this was aimed at their Rap God, which coincidentally (not) the name of Em’s 2013 track.

In August 2018, Eminem dropped his surprise album, ‘Kamikaze.’ Em sends direct shots at MGK, on the 8th song on the album entitled, ‘Not Alike,’ spitting rhymes such as, “He wants to keep up his tough demeanour/So he does a feature, decides to team up with Nina/But next time you don’t gotta use Tech N9ne/If you wanna come at me with a sub, Machine Gun.”

3 days later MGK responds with a diss-track, ‘Rap Devil,’ a full 4:43 minutes of complete shade thrown at Em. In this diss-track, MGK accuses Em of being out of touch and banning him from Shade 45.

In early September, Em sits down with Sway Calloway for his first interview after the surprise release of ‘Kamikaze.’ Em addresses his beef with MGK, saying, “first he said, ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favourite rapper banned me from Shade 45.’ or whatever he said right like I was trying to hinder his career. I could give a fuck about your career. You think I actually fucking think about you? Do you know how many fucking rappers are better than you? You’re not even in the conversation.”

2 days later, the real Slim Shady drops, ‘Killshot.’ In ‘Killshot,’ Em pokes fun at MGK’s appearance, lack of success as well as some other specifics. The diss-track went on to break YouTube records by being the most streamed song in 24-hours, gaining 38.1 million views within its first day of release.

On the same day as the ‘Killshot’ release, MGK responds via Twitter...

MGK features on The Breakfast Club 6 days after ‘Killshot’ dropped and said that he doesn’t plan on responding to Em’s diss, labelling it, “out of touch.”

MGK apparently does or did have a diss for Em, but has decided to put it on hold… for now.
