what-kind-of-traveller-are-you

What kind of traveller are you?

Whether you like to collect experiences, stamps in your passport, or magnets to stick on your fridge, everyone has their own style when it comes to travel. But what kind of traveller are you?

The Cheapskate

Somehow you’ve gone way beyond the realms of budget travel and found yourself crossing over into pure, unadulterated tightwaddedness. You’ll do anything to save a penny. Pasta, lentils, and instant ramen are your staple food groups, and magically you always disappear just before it’s your round at the bar.

The Culture Vulture

You plan every part of your trip down to very the last minute. This way you make sure you don’t miss out on any culturally significant activities in your chosen destination. You have no space in your itinerary for beaches, bars, or any kind of downtime for that matter. Your regimented days consist of shuttling between museums, art galleries, religious establishments, and historically important buildings. You love nothing more than a walking tour to start the day off.

The Adventure Junkie

Cliff jumping, skydiving, ice climbing, potholing, ostrich racing: no thrill is big enough for you. Whenever there’s the slightest hint of danger you’re there, first in line. You’re probably heavily tatted up with sayings like “carpe diem”, “no regrets”, or “YOLO”, you might have even done them yourself.

The Party Animal

Your mornings and afternoons are spent in darkened rooms, solemnly making a pact with yourself to never touch a drop of alcohol ever again. By the time happy hour comes round you’re ready for a bit of hair of the dog. Before you know it, it’s 6am and you’re showing everyone how you’ve got them moves like Jagger.

The Selfie Obsessive

If it ain’t on Insta it didn’t happen. Where you go and what you do is dictated purely by how many likes it will get you on social media. Your most valued possession is your selfie stick and you can frequently be found pouting in front of well-known tourist hotspots, oblivious to the fact that you’re ruining everyone else’s shot. #duckface

The Flashpacker

Budgets are for other people. You’ve got money to burn and you’re not afraid to spend it. No excursion is too expensive for the flashpacker, it’s Michelin star restaurants all the way baby, and first class lounges are so standard you don’t even feel obliged to get wasted on all the free booze.

The Moaner

You probably don’t know that you’re the moaner, but every group of mates has one. If you’ve run out of friends to go on holiday with, then it may well be you. There’s always something wrong and you’re an absolute nightmare to be around because of it. Phrases like “Why are all the signs in Spanish?”, “Why can’t anyone make a decent cappuccino over here”, or “The sea’s too hot” can frequently be heard spilling out of your entitled gob.

The Storyteller

Every story you tell begins with a hearty burst of laughter and “That reminds me of this time I was in…”. You’re an expert on every country in the world, regardless of whether you’ve been or not. You’ve always climbed a higher mountain, visited a more beautiful temple, or seen a better sunset than anyone else you encounter.
