Oof! It sure has gotten chilly out there, but you can’t let the tyranny of winter’s weather stop you from enjoying this most silly and sparkly of seasons. Between rooftop film clubs, Alpine pop-ups, icy activities and the ultimate S Club party, DesignMyNight’s December round-up is making sure you’re not left out in the cold this month.
One of the simplest delights of the festive season is snuggling down with a hot cup of something and getting nostalgic with your favourite Christmas films. FEST Camden seem to know this better than anyone because they’re opening up their fully-covered rooftop, complete with pizza and hot cocktails, to bring you screenings of Home Alone, Cool Runnings, Love Actually and more.
As the designated season of excess, there is never a better time to be fulfilling your bottomless brunch quota than Christmas. Head to Winterland, Fulham’s riverside Tinseltown, for delicious food from the Pizza Shed, alongside DJs, glitter artists and that all-important unlimited bubbly, cider or mulled wine.
Shelving games of croquet to crack out an ice rink and gooey fondue, Skylight’s winter pop-up is the perfect place to show off those under-appreciated skating skills before warming yourselves up with a vat of melted cheese and a Christmas cocktail in one of their cosy igloos.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that there ain’t no party like an S Club party, and Bradley, Jo and Tina are back to remind you just how true that is. Bringing you the ultimate festive fiesta, this night of pure, unadulterated pop will be busting out the throwback bangers (and S Club Eggnog) until 3am.
Giving your favourite fairground pastime a cold weather twist, Elephant & Castle’s Castle Square are letting you throw yourself about in a bumper car... on ice. A top option if you’re looking for an alternative to the traditional Christmas activities; there’s also DJs and street food to keep that festive spirit at an all time high.
Get ready to grab that inflatable banana because Shoreditch’s London Cocktail Club is transforming into a miniature convenience store for one helluva pop-up. Their Supermarket Sweep-themed cocktail class will teach you how to craft wacky concoctions using ingredients available at your corner shop; think Coco Pops and Angel’s Delight.
Proud Cabaret bring the glitz and sparkle all year round, but their Christmas festivities go that extra mile. Head to their Kemptown haunt for decadent dinners in an iconic ballroom, cracking cocktails and some blood-pumping burlesque alongside cabaret and circus performances.
Dirty Martini don’t mess around when it comes to helping you soak up - or rather sip up - those Christmas spirits. From a punch that would make Santa proud, to an Espresso Martini that could turn even The Grinch into a festive fanatic, this Cardiff nightspot is planning to raise more than a few glasses to the holiday season.
Back with a brand new (r)après ski-themed pop-up, Digbeth’s favourite winter warmer is returning for another lost weekend of gooey fondue, seasonal cocktails, DJs and film screenings. Get those December shenanigans off to a rolicking start with rum-spiked hot chocolates and music from The Heavy Beat Brass Band.
With cosy furs, candelabras and stunning sea views, Brighton Music Hall’s chic little igloos as back for another season of festive frolics and beachfront boozing without the freezing breeze. Hole up in a fully-heated dome and indulge in a little cocktail sipping alongside entertainment from DJs, live bands and cabaret performers.
