We caught up with the flame-haired chick with the seriously awesome voice about to take the music industry by storm, Daisy Godfrey. This Notts based gal is close to our hearts because UNiDAYS HQ is based in Nottingham and we catch her singing all the time all over the city with her guitarist Ryan! Check out our interview with her below and some of her advice for up and coming musicians.

What’s your favourite music venue in Nottingham?

Rough Trade, it's an intimate venue with a lovely sound.

Who are your musical influences?

I get inspired by artists who play or sing with emotion and write honest lyrics. Joan Armatrading, No Doubt, Corinne Bailey Rae, Etta James, The Smiths, Amy Winehouse.

If you could bring one dead musician back to life who would it be and why?

Probably, Etta James or Amy Winehouse. I would have loved to see them live - I believe every word they sing when they perform.

What piece of advice can you offer to any musicians in the making?

Stay true to yourself and and know exactly what your goal is. There are so many different aspects to music and I think it can feel overwhelming at times. Always have your vision in mind!

What’s your most listened to song on Spotify/Apple Music?

Nina Simone - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Favourite cover to play and why?

Like A Star - I find it easy to get into the emotion of that song. I can relate to the lyrics.

What was your top highlight from BBC Introducing Amplify ‘17?

During Chase and Status' talk they mentioned that one of their most well-known songs took over 80 different versions to find one they were happy with. To me, that was really important because sometimes you'll come up with song ideas and not know what direction to go in. It was comforting to know others struggle with that and it's just about trying different arrangements out.
