Student bucket list: Leeds

Leeds? It just so happens to have one of the best underground music scenes in the country, along with plenty of cool eateries and cheap pubs. If you’re searching for quirky and interesting spots to chill between lectures or some mega nights out, look no further as we’ve enlisted the help of the experts from DesignMyNight to put together a quick list of recommendations. Whether you’re a fresher or a seasoned student, find your new favourite hangout in Leeds.

The best for a cheap dinner: The Library

The Library has become a staple in the city’s student scene, offering craft pints, pocket-friendly grub and cosy seating areas, perfect for sheltering from your deadlines. The vibe is totally fuss-free, making it feel like a classic boozer. Prices are loan-friendly with burger deals for as little as £7.75, all-day breakfast (always a winner) for £5.75, and 25p per wing all-day on Wednesdays; it’s no wonder they’re the city’s favourite student pub. The best for a tropical paradise: Tiki Hideaway

Leeds can get pretty chilly once winter is in full swing, and sometimes, you just need to be transported to a faraway escape. While your bank account may not allow an actual holiday, Tiki Hideaway will give you a taste of tropical luxury, in the heart of the city. Serving two cocktails for £12 at selected times Wednesday-Saturday, it’s a great excuse to shake off a hard day's studying. An image

The best for a post-lecture pint: Bundobust Leeds

For all of you craft brew fanatics, this is a great place to get your fix. Bundobust serves some of the best craft beers in the city and won’t break the bank doing so. To top it off, this place has also been named one of Britain's top Indian restaurants, so if you’ve had a long day of back-to-back lectures, it’s the perfect place to go for Bombay Dazzlers, Juicy Bhangras and Chai Spiced Ciders to enjoy with the city’s best bhajis. The best for dance music: Mint Club

This internationally renowned club is closing next year so now is your time to see some of the world's most exciting underground dance artists, as well as massive names such as Seth Troxler, David Rodigan and Skream to celebrate its spectacular 20 years. Its spirit still lives on through the refurbished Mint Warehouse which will be releasing its programming and events in early 2019, so you dance-heads will still have a place to hang. An image
