Stick To Your Fitness This Year!

Feel like every time you start a new workout regime or health eating plan it only lasts a few weeks until you're back on the couch watching My Wife & Kids re-runs eating Cheetos? Here are 5 tips to help you actually stick to it this time around!

1. Baby Steps

Don't go all out on your first session thinking you're going to be on the treadmill for 30 minutes and then you're going to waltz into a boxing class and nail it. Take it slow. If you're going from 0 gym sessions a week and aiming for 5, you're going to fail. Start at 1, then slowly work your way up to 2-3 a week. You'll get there!

3. Set Goals

Set yourself SMART goals in the form of short, medium and long term. If your long term goal is to lose a certain amount of weight, break it down into smaller amounts to make it seem more of a journey than a flat out marathon.

4. Don't Be Lazy

If you try and incorporate activity into your day-to-day life, heading to the gym or out for a jog won't seem that much of a hardship if you've already walked to work or taken the stairs instead of the elevator. It'll soon become second nature.

5. Join Forces

Combining your health kick with a buddy is going to make you a lot more motivated to keep going. If you're heading to classes together or sharing gym equipment you'll be a lot more likely to stick to it.
