5 questions every fresher has

Are you going to be a fresher soon? Do you have a few questions you keep asking yourself, with no answers to give?

Well, don’t worry, we’ve got you!

Here are 5 things that every fresher asks themselves!

1. Am I going to make friends?

Of course, you are, sometimes it takes longer for people to make friends, but have faith in yourself and believe that you will. If you’re living at a uni accommodation you tend to make your first set of friends with the people you’re sharing a flat with.

Once you start your course you then you begin to make buddies who are on the same course as you.

Eventually, you might have a couple of groups of friends from your course, uni and your student accommodation it’s a great idea to merge them, suggest a games night or an evening out...

2. Will I learn how to find my way around the city?

Wonder round (keep Google Maps handy), find the closest restaurants, pubs, parks, Starbucks any places you enjoyed visiting when you lived at home, find the equivalent in your new home.

Don’t be afraid to ask bypassers too, they might be able to tell that this is not your usual surroundings, so nine times out of 10 they’d be happy to help.

3. Is uni going to be easy?

Is life easy? Sometimes, it depends. Similarly to uni, somedays you might find it a breeze, somedays you might hate it.

But your uni experience is what you make it. The overall uni experience is fun and exhausting, it flies by so fast, by the end of it you don’t remember the emotional wreck you were in your first year. The best thing to do would be to enjoy it.

4. Will I have enough money?

Not trying to enforce the whole ‘adult thing’ onto you too quickly, but it would be an idea to make sure you’re budgeting. Figure out how much money you have to spend a week on average, test a week and see whether you’re spending more or less than your budget if you have money to spare- great. If you find yourself spending more than you’ve budgeted for, you better get cracking on a new money plan.

5. Am I going to miss home?

Maybe, depends if you’re a homebody…

Try not to let it get you down too much, home is where the heart is and all that but it’s up to you to make the best out of your uni life and take full advantage of all opportunities coming your way.
