6 hummus recipes you need in your life

Whether you spell it hummus or houmous you can't deny that this Middle Eastern snack is hella tasty and almost a daily necessity these days. The 13th of May is officially Internation Hummus Day and that makes us pretty happy here at UNiDAYS HQ. Here are our top 6 hummus recipes that are hitting up our Nom Central Pinterest board right now. Pass the pitta bread!

1. Carrot, walnut and red lentil

A little adventurous, a lot tasty. This sweet and delicious hummus will pack an extra protein punch with the walnuts and lentils too. This recipe is also super quick meaning you can have homemade gorgeous hummus in less than half an hour!

2. Vegan beetroot hummus

Stick with me on this one. I don't actually like beetroots at all but beet hummus is a revelation! Not to mention the incredible colour. Spread it on toast, stuff your sandwiches with it or add it to salads, lunchtime has reached a whole new level.

3. Halloumi and hummus brioche

A.K.A The Dream. We can't get enough of halloumi, ever. Then when it's added to a delicious brioche sandwich with roasted red peppers, spinach and hummus? Amazing.

4. Loaded hummus

Fancy getting creative and actually making your own hummus? It's easier than it seems - this easy recipe from What's Gaby Cooking will show you how! All you need is a tin of chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic and a little salt! Top with fresh feta cheese, pomegranate seeds, fresh parsley and oil and you have the ultimate dip for your pitta chips.

5. Lebanese pumpkin hummus

Don't start. Pumpkin does not mean basic. Pumpkin is basically the big brother of butternut squash and that is one of the kings of the vegetable world!

6. Garlic basic wedges with pesto hummus

Hummus is the perfect partner for any carbs, this we know. Pitta? Yes. Toast? Yes. Potato wedges? Hell to the yes. This incredible pesto hummus recipe from This Savoury Vegan is obviously vegan (winner for all your hipster friends) and is so fresh and light. All you need is pesto from the supermarket and plain hummus - mix them together and bake yourself some wedges, it's that easy!
