Nothing says winter fashion quite like velvet, right? Its luxe texture makes it a staple winter wardrobe trend every year and 2019 is no exception. Here are six must-have pieces from the high street you’ll be wanting to add to your collection this season.
1. Suit blazer
This deep red, velvet blazer from Boohoo screams Christmas. Pair it with a simple LBD or go all out and put the matching trousers in your shopping basket too if you want to make a real statement.
This jumpsuit is a great option if you’re keen to make your love of velvet last through the seasons. Layer it like the model has done here during the colder seasons to keep warm or alone with a heeled sandal on a summer night out.
Velvet works just as well as part of a luxurious loungewear set as it does a Christmas party dress - this hoody from Missguided is proof of that. It comes in a variety of different colours and would make a great present too.
If you’re not quite ready to commit to one of the admittedly bold choices above, opt for velvet accessories like this headband instead. The neutral colour and classic cut means it’s definitely on the safer side but it’s still a great way to add some texture into a plainer, winter outfit if you’re not fully on board with the trend just yet.
On the far less subtle end of the scale is this moon-shaped bag from Topshop. It doesn’t get much more in your face than neon velvet.
Another stand-out accessory. These velvet, heeled ankle boots would brighten up the dullest of outfits and they’re on sale as we speak! Wear them to after-work drinks with ‘jeans and a nice top’ or go all out and find a statement dress to compliment them on a festive night out.
