4 inspirational sports women

With all the great achievements in the sports world recently... it’s time to take a look at some of the people really flying the flag for us women.

Here’s a little inspiration to get you feeling active and inspired:

1. Fleur Jong

From a young age, Fleur would be found busting moves with her dance team. However, when she was 16 she suffered from a blood bacterium and she eventually lost both her legs and 8 of her fingers. Did she let this stop? No! Fleur is now a sprinter and has competed at the World Championships, as well as the Paralympics. Her determination to not give up when her plans changed should be an inspiration to us all!

2. Yusra Mardini

Most athletes have amazing stories of how they got to where they are, but Yusra’s story is one that truly stands-out! After her home was destroyed in the Syrian Civil War, Yusra fled the country on a boat. However, when the boat stopped working Yusra and her sister helped to save the lives of over 20 people by swimming and pushing the boat to land.

She then competed for the Refugee Olympic Athletes team in the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle (of course!) in Rio 2016! Yusra’s passion and dedication despite her hardships are why we think she is an amazing woman!

3. Lindsey Vonn

American Alpine skier, Lindsey Vonn a.k.a ‘Speed Queen’ is the most decorated female Alpine skier in World Cup history! Despite injuries stopping her from defending her titles, she has always bounced back.

4. Misty Copeland

This ballerina has made history by becoming the first African-American female principal dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre. Misty’s rise to this success was not straightforward. She discovered ballet fairly late on, at 13, and was living in a motel room with her 5 siblings. Yet, she never faltered when it came to following her dream and was en-point within 3 months of her first class and was performing professionally in just over a year.
