The role in a nutshell
An opportunity has arisen for an In-House Legal Counsel to provide reliable, accurate and commercially focused legal advice to the wider business.
This role will support the General Counsel to ensure that a first class legal service is provided to support all departments. You'll be required to operate in a timely, efficient and accurate manner whilst working in a fast paced environment.
Day to day responsibilities
Review and understand all current contractual and statutory obligations and liabilities on the company in order to assist the relevant business departments to work within such parameters.
Review, draft, negotiate and advise on a broad range of legal and commercial documents which may include (but are not limited to) service agreements with clients, licenses & IP agreements, general commercial contracts and non-disclosure agreements.
Identify and analyse legal issues arising from transactions, business strategies, initiatives and new projects.
Assist in the identification, management and control of legal and related operational risks.
Assist the legal team with ad hoc queries for all areas of the business, including researching and investigating specific legal matters and presenting the results to the General Counsel and the Executive Team.
Support process improvement projects where required.
What we need from you
To be successful in this role, you will need to have been admitted to practice as a solicitor for England & Wales.
You will have solid commercial experience, ideally specialising in IP and commercial contracts.
You will have a working knowledge of a broad range of legal matters in particular intellectual property and commercial contract law.
You must have the ability to work on your own, advise and make decisions in a very fast changing environment.
You must have the ability to prioritise your workload and adapt to the ever changing needs of the business.
Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and problem solving skills will also be necessary.
